Are you a new parent crippled with anxiety? We’ve been there. Here’s 5 newborn essentials that will put your mind at ease, from smart monitors to safe sleep devices.

1. The Owlet Smart Sock: Is It Worth the Investment?
Short answer – 100% yes.
I could finally switch off and stop leaning over the cot every 30 minutes to check he’s breathing.
The Owlet Sock monitors your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels all night long.
So you know the alarm will sound if your baby needs you.

2. Forehead Thermometer
If you’re not thinking are they breathing, you’ll be thinking are they too hot?
This forehead, no contact thermometer SAVED ME.
At any point in the night (or day), I could use my little scanner on my baby’s forehead and check his temperature.
It flashes green if their temperature is safe, so you can relax.
And red if they’re too hot – so you can grab the Calpol or take a layer of clothing off.

3. Purflo Sleep Nest
The Purflo sleep pod that has mesh sides AND base.
So if your baby turns their head to the side, they’re not going to suffocate on the material.
It’s sleep safe, so you can put the Purflo in your next to me crib, and they’re safe and sound.
My little one felt so much more snug and secure inside this sleep nest, and slept so much better!

4. Life Vac Choking Device
This is something I hope I never use.
But I think everyone should have one of these in their house, just in case.
Babies put EVERYTHING in their mouth.
So if they were to get something stuck in their throat, the LifeVac goes over their mouth and sucks it back out.
Having the LifeVac also settled my mind when we started weaning (finger food – every anxious Mum’s nightmare!)

5. Momcozy Baby Monitor: A Decent Monitor To Ease Those Fears
A good monitor is something every parent should invest in if you’re a slight panicker.
I would recommend one that has a physical monitor as well as one on an app…
As if you want to scroll on Instagram you want to be able to see your baby at the same time!
The Momcozy monitor is so clear, you can literally see your baby’s chest moving up and down with the zoom button.
With the Owlet sock on and the Momcozy monitor to see them breathing, you literally don’t need to move a muscle!
Thanks for reading! I hope these essentials help you get a few more hours of peaceful sleep tonight.
